A poem about foster care

I am in a foster family.

It feels just like home

There’s no people of my own.

Even though I don’t know these people,

They make me feel warm and loved.

Sometimes,

You wish for them to be your real family.

It doesn’t matter that they aren’t

Blood-relation or not.

It is our choice;

To let them love us like their own,

Our choice;

To build a little place somewhere in their heart

Our choice;

For them to feel love for us.

Living with a foster family isn’t that bad

Some people think they’re sad.

But I tell those people – you must be mad.
